The Game of Speed






Speed is a fast paced game for two players

Read on to learn the rules, instructions, and tips

How to get started:

Start by dealing out 4 stacks of 5 cards, 2 stacks of 15 cards, and have 2 cards left over.

Each player is given a hand of five cards and a draw pile of 15 cards to keep infront of them

    Place in the center of the table a line of 4 stacks in the order designated below:
  1. A stack of 5
  2. A single card
  3. A single card
  4. A stack of 5

    Items needed:
  • Deck of cards (no jokers)
    • no jokers
    • standard 52 cards
    • shuffled
  • 2 people sitting across from one another
  • snacks

The Order of the Cards:

In speed the cards are stacked in order based on the higherarchy of cards as follows:

Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace, ect.

Ex. Player 1 places down a King. Any player can now place down either an Ace or a Queen on top of the King.

Keep only 5 cards in your hand

Never draw to have more than 5 cards. As a player stacks down their cards, they must simultaneously draw more cards to maintain a five card hand.

Place only one card down at a time!

If you have two cards that can be stacked within your hand, each card must still be placed down seperatly

What if neither player an place a card?

If neither player can place down a card at any point in the game flip two new cards from the extra draw piles in the middle over onto the middle piles used for stacking and continue normal game play.

Winner

The winner of the game is the player who places all of their cards down first. If neither player can place down their last cards the game ends in a draw.



Order of play

1.
Deal out cards into proper stacks, players look at their hand of five cards, and then start play by simultaneously flipping over the two individual cards in the center of the table

2.
Players get rid of their cards by stacking cards in the middle piles in the order of card worth, and plyers renew hand size back to five after each discard using their individual draw pile.

3.
When neither player can place down a card, both players flip a card from the middle draw piles onto the stacked pile of cards and continue play

4.
Players continue to quickly place down their cards onto the discard pile until one player gets rid of all of their cards

5.
Should at any point neither player can place any more cards and the middle draw piles are both used up the game ends.

6.
The winner of the game is the player who discards both their hand and draw pile of 15 cards.
